The
Shanty Creek Resort
Begrow
moved to Northern Michigan in 1962 after securing the architectural
contract to design the Shanty Creek Lodge from developer
Roy Deskin. When Begrow was contacted by Deskin to view
the site in Bellaire, Michigan, he thought he was designing
a hunting lodge. Deskin took Begrow to the site, had him
climb a 12 foot ladder to survey the view, and proceeded
to describe how he wished the dining room and bedrooms to
look out at the view. When Deskin explained that he would
need to get a liquor license before starting construction,
Begrow realized the project might be a little larger than
he thought. He asked, "Mr. Deskin, exactly how many bedrooms
were you planning?" The answer: 200!
Today,
Shanty Creek Lodge is a spectacular Resort and Convention
Center with lodge rooms, condominiums and private homes.
Begrow has continued to work on expansions to the main lodge
and the design of numerous related properties over the years
including Schuss Mountain Resort Golf Condos.

designed the Heather Highlands Inn, 200 units and Greystone
located at Boyne Highlands Resort, Harbor Springs, Michigan.
This complex is located at a major convention and meeting
site in northern Michigan that offers skiing, championship
golf, tennis and entertainment.

Edgewater
Resort
Begrow designed a 70 unit condo resort hotel on Charlevoix's
harbor.
